Read your bible: These sections are very important to the struggle.  Minorities that understand the need for respect  when they are down should be able to relate to these scriptures. Try to be humble, and Love the Lord with all your heart and he will reveal himself to you.

The American Jail Association (AJA) is pleased to offer an Annual Conference Scholarship named in the memory of Norwood E. Jackson. The Scholarship will be awarded to a first line corrections officer/detention deputy to attend AJA's Annual Training Conference & Jail Expo.

Norwood E. Jackson, former AJA board member (1990 - 1993) and Commissioner of Correction for the Westchester County Department of Correction, Valhalla, New York, passed away on March 23, 1995. He was the first African American to assume the leadership of a major criminal justice agency in the government of Westchester County, NY.

Mr. Jackson was a graduate of Central State University in Wilberforce, Ohio, and briefly played football with the Cleveland Browns. Prior to his 22 years of public service in Westchester County, he served in the U.S. Army as Commanding Officer of the 8th U.S. Army Correctional Treatment Facility in Korea. He was an Airborne Ranger and a recipient of the U.S. Army's Meritorious Service Medal, the Legion of Merit, the National Defense Ribbon, the Vietnamese Campaign Medal, and the Vietnamese Service Medal. He completed 35 years of active and reserve duty with the U.S. Army Correctional and Military Police Services, retiring as a lieutenant colonel. Mr. Jackson was a credit to the field of corrections.

The Norwood E. Jackson Scholarship includes complimentary Conference registration, transportation, room, and meal allowance (not to exceed the Federal per diem for the Conference area).
